Building a Wedding Menu that is “Perfectly You”

For many eager brides, grooms, and their families, preparing a wedding is filled with nervous anticipation. Our seasoned events team understands and appreciates that a wedding is the most special day in a person’s life. That’s why Drakes works so closely with our clients to ensure that their wedding menu is perfectly planned, perfectly designed, and tailored to be perfectly “you”.

To relieve some of the planning jitters, we suggest establishing a budget, date, time, and headcount for the reception. With this essential information, we can meet with our clients to begin developing the perfect menu. Meeting face-to-face at the venue is best, as nothing is better than seeing the space and hearing our clients describe their vision for design and layout. These little details help us develop the personal touches that can make a special day even more special. If a venue has not been selected, we offer to assist our clients in securing the perfect space.

Our clients frequently have a “must have” menu item or a specialty station in mind to delight their guests. For instance, an exotic sushi station, a seafood ice bar, an enticing dessert tower, or an impressive carved pork and beef tenderloin area. When building a custom menu, these can serve as the focal point from which we build the rest of the menu.

Over the years, Drakes has been honored to cater some of the most beautiful weddings in some of Baton Rouge’s most notable and elegant venues such as: The Capitol Park Museum, The Shaw Center for the Arts, The Old Governor’s Mansion, Louisiana’s Old State Capitol, Louisiana’s Governor’s Mansion, The Baton Rouge Art Gallery, and countless beautiful area homes.

A favorite requested menu item is our signature Boudin Eggrolls. People just love these unique, crispy, and distinctly Louisiana delicacies. Our Triple Shrimp Display delights guests by featuring Blackened, Herb Crusted and Smoked Shrimp artfully arranged to please the eye and surprise the palate. In recent years, we’ve had increased requests for charcuterie boards. We are always happy to offer the Traditional Charcuterie of Italian meats and cheeses, but our clients also enjoy it with a Drakes twist. Guests love our Cajun Charcuterie with boudin, tasso, alligator and duck sausages, hog’s head cheese, pickled vegetables, and creole mustard.

After many years of catering so many joyous occasions, we are reminded of what an honored role we’ve played in our clients’ lives. Often, years after the event, brides, grooms, their family or friends will stop us just to offer thanks for making their special day so memorably delicious. It’s those moments that fill our hearts with pride in the work we do.
