The Joy of Feeding Tigers: Catering for 10,000 LSU Football Fans

As we head into the Fall, there is an excitement that buzzes through the air surrounding the Greater Baton Rouge area. Locals know that “buzz” all too well and it can only mean one thing–Football Season.

More specifically–LSU Football Season. For our team at Drakes Catering, gearing up for our Tigers is a year-round activity. We’re preparing and testing menus, researching trends, developing plans and executions, and always thinking of new ways to surprise and delight our guests with dining experiences they won’t forget.

This is our 19th season to cater to the appetites of our voracious LSU fans in the clubs and suites of Tiger Stadium.

On game days in Tiger Stadium we serve over 3,500 customers in the Suites and over 6,700 in the Clubs. That’s a guest count of over 10,000 people. It’s a tall order to fill, but our dedicated team makes sure that whether our Tigers win or lose, each guest leaves raving about our food and service.

We pride ourselves on our custom menu options (seriously – we’ve been asked to provide Pappy Van Winkle whiskey and corndogs … which we did), but over the years we’ve developed some fan-favorite items. Our signature boudin eggrolls and Chicken and Andouille Gumbo are spicy, delicious, and distinctly Louisiana. Our Grilled Beef Tenderloin and BBQ Shrimp and Grits have received cheers of their own from the most discerning of Tiger fans.

We are so honored to be part of the rich tradition of LSU football, providing memorable and delicious experiences for the most amazing fans in the SEC, in the finest of settings in college athletics, in a city that takes its food very seriously.

Here’s to an amazing season of  food, family, friends, and football.

Cheers!
